Now hiring 1 to 2 Ecotour Guides for Saturdays starting April 2026!
Asheville Hiking Tours is seeking knowledgeable, charismatic guides with a strong understanding of Appalachian flora, fauna, and local history, and a genuine passion for sharing nature with others. Tour guides must be comfortable driving a 12-passenger Ford Econoline van. A clean or near-clean driving record is a must, for commercial auto insurance purposes. The hired tour guide would lead groups either every Saturday (with time off, given advanced notice), or every other Saturday (in the case that 2 guides are hired, and alternate Saturdays). We guide visitors through Pisgah National Forest and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our guides lead engaging, story-rich tours that highlight the natural and cultural history of the Southern Appalachians—helping guests connect more deeply with this extraordinary landscape.
What We’re Looking For:
-
A solid foundation in local plants, wildlife, and regional history (we often coach new employees about the local history, if needed)
-
A warm, personable presence and comfort engaging with diverse groups
-
Strong communication skills—people with teaching, leadership, or interpretive backgrounds often thrive in this role
-
Ability to lead easy to moderate hikes (no need to be a hiking expert!)
What We Offer:
-
Competitive pay!
-
The best office around town
-
A seasonal schedule
Our busiest periods run May–October and around the winter holidays. If you love the outdoors, enjoy storytelling, and want to help visitors experience the magic of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we’d love to hear from you!
