Camp Tree Song fills the void at the intersection of a nurturing community and an immersive outdoor experience, which is both adventurous and educational. As parents and educators, we want to create a place for children to break free from a world that demands a screen-centered life and give them the space to connect deeply with other people and the natural world. As naturalists and ecologists, we want to invest in and inspire today’s youth to become the next generation of conscious stewards of the Earth. We accomplish this with a deeply immersive child-centered and community-based approach, which we have not found anywhere else. We dreamed up the camp that we wanted for our own children, and Camp Tree Song was born!
-
At the foundation of our approach is providing a nurturing and attentive environment, and we do this by intentionally keeping our camp very small (up to 27 campers) with a staff to camper ratio of 1:6.
-
Camp Tree Song provides classic bell tents outfitted with comfortable cot matresses, so campers get the full outdoor experience without sacrificing comfort. Campers sleep three to a tent and are sorted based on age, gender, and the information we gather in our detailed questionnaire at registration. Our camp Village makes a safe and comfortable home away from home for your children.
-
Campers may mutually request a tent mate at registration. We will do our best to accommodate every request, and we ask for your patience and grace if we are not able to meet every request.

Lots of kids get homesick during camp, and we see this as a good thing! Spending time away from home in a safe and supportive environment can help build confidence, independence, and personal growth. Our guides are prepared to support them through the sticky spots, and there is lots you can do at home to prepare them. We love this expert advice from Dr. Christ Thurber, and his additional recommendations.

Our team is made up of talented and passionate educators, naturalists, and parents with an enormous amount of experience and a wide scope of relevant training and advanced degrees. They are chosen especially for their maturity, warmth, and expertise, and are incredible mentors. You can read their detailed bios here. LINK

No. Children are growing up in a fast-paced, over-stimulated but under-connected world, and our greatest wish is to provide them a respite from that. Camp Tree Song is proud to be completely unplugged and tech free, giving campers the opportunity to slow down and truly tune into themselves and the natural world…and just be kids! Children who have these intensive, immersive experiences in nature are better equipped to hold that sense of peace in the chaos of everyday life, so no electronic devices are permitted at camp.
-
Parents will be contacted with a detailed packing list upon registration. We try to keep it simple!
-
That’s okay! Our adventure sites are carefully chosen to be age and skill appropriate and we follow best practices for water safety. Campers who are not confident swimmers can always enjoy wading, and we will provide life jackets where appropriate.
-
Generally we find that most children under the age of seven are not equipped to meet our Camper Expectations found on the home page, but please give us a call if you have a child who falls outside of our 7-13 age range who would be a great fit. Our small size and intentional approach make it possible for us to consider other campers on a case by case basis.
